Music And TV For Dogs?
Yes, there's music and TV just for dogs
Music for dogs
Laurie Anderson composed a 20-minute work called Music For Dogs, inspired by her Rat Terrier, Lolabelle. The album has electronic sounds imperceptible to human ears and was performed on the steps of the Sydney Opera House for an audience of 1500 dogs. Wagtastically fabulous.
TV for dogs
Did you know there's TV programming for dogs? I heard about it, and at first thought it was an educational channel about dogs. I figured great, there's always more to learn about pooch behavior, breeds, care and training.
But when I tuned in what I saw was a faraway shot of the ocean. Waves gently lapped the beach. The sun twinkled on the water. A seagull sounded.
After a full minute, a tiny sihouette of a dog and a person appeared on the right. They ambled across the bottom of the screen and disappeared on the left. I thought, This is the world's slowest moving program.... Oh! This isn't TV about dogs, this is TV for dogs.
24/7 programming covers relaxation, stimulation, exposure (to acquaint dogs with things like city sounds), and night time segments. If you try it with your dog, let me know how it goes.
